Compulsory Earthquake Insurance (DASK)

What Does This Insurance Cover?

DASK provides coverage against any damages to arise on the buildings during earthquakes.

DASK is required under article two of the Decree with the Force of Law on the Compulsory Earthquake Insurance, nr. 587, and provides coverage for your home, against earthquake risks.

AXA SİGORTA offers Compulsory Earthquake Insurance to provide coverage against any contingency you may think of.

Compulsory Earthquake Insurance (DASK) covers the material damages caused directly by the;

  • Earthquake,
  • Fire caused by the earthquake,
  • Explosions caused by the earthquake,
  • Landslide caused by the earthquake, on buildings under insurance (including but not limited to the damage on the foundations, main walls, shared walls to separate independent sections, roofs and floors, stairs, landings, corridors, rooftops and chimneys), up to the insurance limit.

What is the Maximum Coverage Limit?

Each year DASK sets the maximum coverage limit with reference to the increase in building costs. As of 1 January, 2011, the maximum coverage offered by DASK is set as TRY 150 Thousand for all types of buildings.

When setting the maximum coverage figure, reconstruction price (excluding the land cost) of the buildings which make up the majority of existing building inventory is taken into account.

How Do We Set The Premium Figures?

You can click here to calculate the DASK insurance premium for your home.

The insurance premium figure depends on 3 factors:

  • The earthquake risk zone where the building is located,
  • Construction style used for the building,
  • Gross area of the residence.
